OAKLAND RACE REPORT
The Monster Energy Supercross season traveled to Northern California and round five of the 2017 season inside the Oakland Coliseum. Team Rocky Mountain ATV/MC-KTM-WPS rider Blake Baggett continues to ride solid as he finished inside the top ten on one of the most treacherous tracks seen on the circuit in years.
Getting a handle on the track early on, Blake Baggett posted the 7th fastest qualifying time of the day. He would continue to show his mastery of the technical track in his heat race, battling from just outside the top five into 3rd place. He would hold off a late race charge by points leader Ryan Dungey, finishing 3rd and transferring to the main event.
His excellent gate pick allowed Baggett a solid start in the main event. He battled inside the top ten early on, working his way up through the field and past the competition. Using the superior setup of his WP Factory Services suspension allowed him to tackle the deep ruts and bring his KTM to the finish in 7th place. With his solid performance, Baggett jumps up to 11th in championship points.
“I had another good ride” said Baggett. “The track wasn’t ideal, but I was able to find my rhythm out there. We are still going in the right direction and look forward to Arlington next week and a spot on the box.”
Team Rocky Mountain ATV/MC-KTM-WPS now heads to Arlington, TX for round six of the 2017 Monster Energy Supercross Series.
